Students of George M. Hampton Middle School have a unique opportunity to take part in the legacy of a namesake whose accomplishments and contributions reflected the benefits of hard work, education, and commitment.
Opened in 1970 under the name of a former Virginia Governor, the first middle school built in Dale City was renamed in 2016 to honor Dr. Hampton's years of dedicated services to the U.S. military and to Prince William County, Virginia.
Devoted students, teachers, and community members built a rich history of accomplishment and loyalty during the school's first four decades. That history will grow and flourish as new students are inspired by Dr. Hampton's example. He was a man who overcame prejudice to retire from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. He combined advanced education and years of success in the fields of research and training to serve the community and administrations of several Virginia governors.
Today, the George M. Hampton Foundation of the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, in the spirit of it's acclaimed namesake and member, provides financial and tutoring support to fuel local student success.
George M. Hampton Middle School is home to the challenging and comprehensive International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. The program connects the subject areas of language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, foreign language, technology, fine and performing arts, and physical education through global contexts. Students who wish to continue the program may earn a Middle Years Programme Certificate at Gar-Field High School at the end of the 10th grade.
