Attendance Information

• When a student will be absent, notification should be provided to the school before or at the start of the school day, when possible.
• To excuse an absence, written or electronic communication citing the reason(s) for the absence must be provided to the school no more than five school days following the date of the absence. 

How to report an absence

• Absences can be reported in ParentVUE the same day of the absence.
• When excusing prior absences or late arrivals, please email Mrs. Keyber Mendez, attendance secretary. Her email is [email protected] 
  • Only emails from a parent's email address will be accepted. 
    • Emails from student accounts will not be processed

• Students who are not in their classroom/first period by 8:20 a.m. will be marked tardy.
• Students who are not in their classroom by the start of each class period throughout the day will be marked tardy.
• A student's tardy will be recorded as excused or unexcused based on whether the reason for the late arrival meets the excused or unexcused absence criteria outlined in the PWCS Attendance Guidelines.

How to report an excused tardy

• Late Arrival: Parents must accompany students inside to sign them in.
• Excused Tardy: A doctor's note is required if the tardy is due to an appointment.
• Unexcused Tardies: Multiple instances may lead to consequences such as: 
  • Loss of privileges
  • A possible parent conference

• No early dismissal of students will be allowed after 2:30 p.m.
• ID Requirement: Physical identification is mandatory. Without it, the student cannot be dismissed.
• No advanced notice needed:
  • You do not need to call or email ahead.
  • Students are not called down until you arrive.
  • Anyone picking up a student must be on the emergency contact list.
  • Once your ID is verified against the emergency contact list, your student will be dismissed.

Parents/guardians, safety is our number one priority for students and staff. 

Even though we see you everyday, we need to always check your identification when you are picking up your student or entering the school. Please relay this information to your emergency contacts and family members as stated in PWCS regulations.
