2/6/17 - 3/3/17: 6th grade students concluded printmaking and have begun making plaster masks. 7th grade completed Op Art watercolors and Pop Art stencils. 8th grade finished tessellations and created a collage inspired by Harlem Renaissance artist, Romare Bearden.
1/31/17 - 2/3/17: 6th grade students are beginning additive printmaking. 7th grade students are creating an op art design. 8th grade students are concluding their Asian inspired watercolor and beginning to study about M. C. Escher and tessellations.
The 2nd marking period ends on January 27, 2017!
1/17/17 - 1/27/17: 6th grade students are concluding their star/creative writing project and beginning a project reflecting the style of Brazilian artist Romero Britto. 7th grade is finishing their radial relief paper fold design project and beginning a mixed media project reflecting the style of famed potter Maria Martinez. 8th grade is concluding their op art cube and beginning an Asian inspired watercolor.
1/9/17 - 1/13/17: 6th grade students are continuing their star/creative writing project. 7th grade is continuing their radial relief paper fold design project. 8th grade is concluding their 3D op art cubes.
1/3/17 - 1/6/17: 6th grade students are concluding their shapes to forms collage and beginning a paper folded star with creative writing project. 7th grade is beginning a radial relief paper fold design project. 8th grade is continuing details on their op art design 3D cube.
11/21/16 - 12/21/16: 6th graders are creating a multi-media collage with colored pencils and watercolor, making shapes look like forms using 1 point perspective. 7th grade is engaging in painting trees in a monochromatic landscape scene. 8th graders are beginning a 3D op art cube after learning about the works of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley.
11/9/16 - 11/18/16: 6th grade is engaging in exploration of the color wheel and color schemes using various media. 7th grade is engaging in 2 point perspective drawing. 8th grade is engaging in communication via a Keith Haring inspired poster design.
10/24/16 - 10/28/16: 6th grade is completing warm/cool color watercolor with line design. 7th grade is continuing soft sculpture stitchery with sugar skulls as the motif. 8th grade is completing their dreamcatcher watercolor, adding details with Sharpies and oil pastels.
10/17/16 - 10/21/16: 6th is beginning warm/cool color watercolor with line design. 7th grade is continuing soft sculpture stitchery with sugar skulls as the motif. 8th grade is continuing their dreamcatcher watercolor, adding details with Sharpies and oil pastels.
10/10/16 - 10/14/16: 6th grade is exploring the crayon resist watercolor method with spider webs and spiders as the motif. 7th grade is beginning soft sculpture with stitchery, practicing basic stitches. 8th grade is beginning a dreamcatcher using Sharpies, oil pastels and watercolor in a radial design.
10/03/16 - 10/07/2016: 6th grade is completing one point perspective drawing. 7th grade is completing contour hand drawing. 8th grade is completing three point perspective drawing
9/26/16 - 9/30/16: 6th grade is continuing one point perspective, adding detail with colored pencils. 7th grade is continuing contour hand drawing. 8th grade is beginning three point perspective.
9/19/16 - 9/23/16: All students have completed a value scale showing light and dark tones. 6th grade is beginning one point perspective. 7th grade is beginning contour hand drawing. 8th grade is completing their zentangle collaboration.
9/6/16 - 9/9/16: Students will complete their sketchbook and begin studying the Elements of Art.
8/29/16 - 9/2/16: All students will be creating a sketchbook this week to use all year long.
