Jehovanni Mitchell, Principal
Principal’s Message
Dear Hampton Family,
Welcome to the new school year! ! am excited to start the 2020-2021 school year as
principal at Hampton Middle School. Our teachers and staff are looking forward to
meeting and working with our students, parents, and community members. We strongly believe our families are an
invaluable part of our school community. Hampton will continue to be a school community
where we value diversity, differences, and make decisions that address the needs
of our students. Virtual learning has become a new normal for all of us. Last school year was an unprecedented one in the history of our educational system. Hampton was closed to normal activities and we moved to distance learning. The success of this monumental task was due the dedication and great skills of our staff, students, and parents. As we move towards the 50/50 model in the month of November, our staff continue to prepare for student return.
I began my teaching career in New York City Public Schools and later moved to Virginia to work as a 7th Grade Math Teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. After two years of teaching in Fairfax County, I decided to continue my career as an educator in Prince William County Public Schools. The 2020-2021 school year will be my nineteenth year as an
educator in Prince William County. I began my career in Prince
William County Schools as a middle school math teacher at Beville Middle
School. In 2004, I was appointed Assistant Principal at Stonewall Middle School and in 2006, Assistant Principal
at Beville Middle School. In August of 2006, I served as Principal at New
Dominion Alternative Center and for the past eight years, Principal
of Hampton Middle School. My goal is to create a
learning environment where students grow in knowledge, teachers actively engage
students in rigorous learning, and parents continue to be our partners in education.
George M. Hampton Middle School is an International Baccalaureate
Middle Years Program school which provides a rigorous, high quality education,
challenging students to excel in their studies, and encouraging both personal
and academic achievement. The aim of the IBMYP Program is to develop
internationally minded students who, recognizing their common humanity and
shared guardianship of the planet, help create a better and more peaceful
world. IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers,
communicators, principled, open minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and
reflective. These IB learner profile represents 10 attributes that can help
individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national, and
global communities.
Thank you for providing us the opportunity to be part of
your child's education. Each of us will do our very best to create a safe
and enjoyable, whole-child focused learning environment for each student. On behalf of the entire
staff and faculty at Hampton Middle, we are looking forward to
partnering with you and your child during the 2020-2021 school year. We hope to see you at PTSO and Advisory Council meetings, Back to School Night,
and other school activities.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have
any questions. We look forward to
another great year of learning.
Sincerely,
Jehovanni
