What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactiveapproach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture andneeded for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional andacademic success.
How is Hampton using PBIS?
At Godwin the program is best broken down as a 2 part system.
Part 1: Positive Behavior: Getting and keeping students on the right track
-Rewarding students for doing the right thing
-Incentivizing students to do the right thing
For 2015-2016 we have changed our rewards process. This year will berunning a PBIS store. Students will be able to accumulate PRIDE Bucksthroughout the year to spend at the store for a variety of prizes.
Part 2: Interventions and Support: Getting students back on track and ready for success
Part 2 is for students with academic and/or behavioral concerns. Thegoal of part 2 it to provide support for students who need it inacademics and/or conduct.
If a student is in need of help a Tier 2 intervention meeting isschedule. The students teachers, guidance counselor, parent, and otherneeded parties will meet to discuss the concern and formulate a planmoving forward to get the student back on track. The student will bemonitored for a period of time and the reevaluated. If not interventionis needed it is scheduled. If the student has corrected the concernthey will return to Tier 1 with no monitoring.
