Message from Teacher:

March 26, 2020

Course Description:  Creative Writing classes are grounded in the 6th Grade Writing Standards.  Student will plan, draft, revise, and edit narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writing with attention to composition,
and written expression as well as sentence formation, usage, and mechanics.  They will use writing as a tool for learning academic concepts as well as for expressive purposes.

This semester, we focused on narration; students are telling their stories!  Creative Writing students have written Bio-Poems and were in the process of writing autobiographies.  The autobiographies are written using a memoir format telling stories of memorable times with family and friends.  Finally, Creative Writers were thinking ahead writing about their dreams for the future.
Throughout this process, I have provided mini-lessons on the usage and mechanics of grammar based on areas of need.  If I see that students are not following the rules of capitalization and punctuation, we stop, take time to review, and apply what we've learned.  I've seen such progress using this format!
